Winter walking used to require a thick coat, scarf and mittens, at least in my childhood memory. I had a pair of gloves that ran through my parka on a long strand of wool, up one sleeve, across the back and down the other. It was insurance against my absent-mindedness, though I’d often walk with gloves dangling and fingers cold.
Winter has changed. Climate chaos means thick snow is often supplanted by heavy rain, high winds and stormy skies. So dressing for a winter walk is a challenge. Will it pour with rain today? Will I need thermal underwear? Or will it be so unseasonally warm that I sweat through my sweater?
Winter is waiting. So step out, whatever the weather.

I feel like mittens on a string should make a come back, it would save me losing gloves everywhere
Those mittens on a string - so vital then, so adorable, looking back! Thanks for sharing this!
